Soup day fundraiser

The Red Carpet Lounge is holding a "Soup Day" fundraiser for Manna Meal from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at its location, 308 Elizabeth St. in the East End. There will be 17 to 20 homemade soups offered for sale to the public. You must be 21 or older for admittance. Soups will be available on a to-go basis also. High tea

The Kanawha Valley Historical and Preservation Society will have a high tea and its annual meeting of members from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Craik-Patton House. Larry L. Rowe will present a brief talk on the Rev. Craik and Colonel Patton. Chef Nancy Payne Bruns will discuss her family's new salt making in Old Malden. Donations are requested for the tea and house tours. House tours will be conducted, displaying a fresh antebellum style by local floral designers. All are encouraged also to attend the open house at historic Glenwood on the West Side earlier in the afternoon. Reservations are needed by Saturday to voice mail at 304-925-1333.

Exporting workshop

The West Virginia District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration will host a free workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 11 at the Randolph County Development Authority, 10 Eleventh St. in Elkins. The workshop helps small businesses, especially those in the hardwood and logging industry, excel at selling their products and services abroad. Participating in the workshop include Leslie Drake, director of the WV U.S. Export Assistance Center, and Caitlin Ashley and Enybe Diaz from the International Trade division of the West Virginia Development Office. Leo Lopez, SBA West Virginia District Office Lender Relations specialist, and William Houck, SBA Office of International Trade regional manager, will discuss export financing options. Christmas madrigal dinner

Collegium Musicum, the Cabell Midland High School musical group, will present its annual Christmas Madrigal Dinner on Dec. 13 and 14 in the school's cafeteria. This year's play, written by students, is "The Crown and the Crucible." Tickets are $15 and include a sit-down dinner, play and concert. The tickets may be bought from any Collegium Musicum member or online at www.cmhscollegiummusicum.org. Proceeds will help fund the group's annual spring trip (to Ireland this year) and supplies.

Beta Sigma Phi Christmas Party

Pat Whitworth will host the Chi Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for the annual Christmas Party on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Members are to bring toys for the Union Mission and cookies for an exchange.

Santa in Rand

Santa Claus will arrive in Rand via HealthNet helicopter at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 14. The helicopter will land at the Dupont Middle School football field. The arrival will be followed by a parade, ending at the Rand Community Center. Children may visit Santa Claus at the community center from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening.
