Wintry weather closes schools, courts in state
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- School systems in 25 of West Virginia's 55 counties are closed as a winter storm brings more snow.
The Department of Education's website shows 11 counties have delayed the opening of schools today.
In Jefferson County, circuit court, magistrate court and county government offices also are closed today.
Winter weather advisories are in effect for most of the state. The National Weather Service says 2 to 4 inches snow is expected in central and northern West Virginia, with 3 to 5 inches possible in the mountains. Southern West Virginia could receive 1 to 3 inches of snow.
