PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A Wood County teacher is on administrative leave after being charged with falsely accusing a student of making threats.
Wood County chief deputy Shawn Graham tells media outlets that 48-year-old Cheryl C. Connelly of Williamstown is charged with reporting a false emergency.
Graham says the Williamstown High School teacher told the school's prevention resource officer on Oct. 22 that a 17-year-old male student had threatened to shoot people at the school.
A woman who answered a telephone listed for a Cheryl Connelly in Williamstown hung up Thursday morning.
Wood County assistant schools superintendent Mike Fling tells media outlets that Connelly is on paid administrative leave.
Connelly remains free on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
