Nitro, South Charleston postpone Christmas parades
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two Christmas parades scheduled for Saturday have been postponed because of the threat of bad weather.
Officials for the city of Nitro are moving the city's Christmas parade to 6 p.m. Monday. Patrolman Ray Blake of the Nitro Police Department said the parade is being postponed because of the threat of bad weather.
The parade will travel from Pickens Road on W.Va. 25 to 19th Street, then to City Park.
South Charleston officials postponed their city's holiday parade until noon on Dec. 21, according to the city's website. That parade is supposed to go from Oakes Field down D Street to the Mound.
The Christmas parade in Pinch, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, was still on as of late Friday afternoon, according to Teri Beasley, one of the parade's organizers. But if the weather was too bad, she said, it would be moved to Dec. 21.
