Three injured in Turnpike wreck

By Staff reports

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Three people were injured after a pickup truck collided with a tractor-trailer near Paint Creek on Thursday night.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes of the West Virginia Turnpike near mile marker 74 around 7 p.m.

Paramedics extracted three people from inside the pickup, which was pinned underneath the tractor-trailer, according to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers. They were taken to CAMC General Hospital with unknown injuries. The tractor-trailer's driver was uninjured, dispatchers said.

Police closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 and diverted traffic off nearby exit ramps.
