Holiday programs/services

Randy Gifford Promotions will present the Sixth Annual "New" New Year's Eve Gospel Sing from 7 to midnight Dec. 31 at Riverside High School. Admission is Free. Worship services begin at 6:30 p.m. Featured groups will be The Harbors Masters Quartet, The Humphreys, The Brighterside Quartet, The Praisemen, Brothers in the Cross, Divine Hope, and Pianist Ron Pauley. A Watch Night Service will begin at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, New Year's Eve, at The Father's House Missionary Baptist Church, 500 29th Street.

The Believers will be singing New Year's Eve during a Watch Night service beginning at 8 p.m. at Ten-Up Ministries located at 840 Coal River Road, St. Albans.

Abundant Life Ministries, 1534 Washington St. E., will have a New Year's Eve Celebration from 10 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday at the church. There will also be a Youth Lock-In for all youth in fifth through the 12th grades. There will be games, movies, food and more. For more information, call the church at 304-342-0058, extension 8.

Fisher Memorial Church will have a New Year's Eve Watch Night Service from 8 p.m. to midnight, Dec. 31. The Rev. Earl Cochran, Pastor of Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church and Pleasant View United Methodist Church will speak at 9:30 p.m. A Fellowship Hour will be held at 10 a.m. with refreshments in the Family Center. The conclusion of the service will be held at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The church bells will ring at midnight and all will gather around the altar to pray the old year out and the New Year in. The Choraliers, Freeman Newhouse, Jordan River Boys, Lathey Family, Saving Grace, The New Life Singers, Young Adult Singers, Fisher Memorial Quartet and choir will sing. The church is located 1/2 mile on Dudden Fork Road, off the Goldtown Exit of Interstate 77, 18 miles north of Charleston. Pastor is Aaron Finney. For more information, call 304-993-2777.

The Ninth Annual New Year Community Benefit Gospel Sing will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 4 at Summersville Baptist Church, Main Street, Summersville. Admission is free, however donations of nonperishable food items will be received to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Summerville. A love offering will be received and donated to the Richwood Ministerial and Summersville Ministerial associations' community needs funds. The sing is presented by Reach By Faith Ministries.

King of Glory International Ministries, 302 Delaware Ave., will have a New Year's Eve praise service at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Featuring Apostle Tina M. Beatty and Pastor Ron Beatty. For more information, call 304-720-5994.

Good Shepherd Freewill Baptist Church will join the Faith Free Will Baptist Church for a combined New Year's Eve Watch Service from 8 p.m. to midnight Tuesday at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Lavalette.

The First Baptist Church of Montgomery and Bishop Thomas R. Murray, pastor, will host a New Year's Eve service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall following the service.

Music

A benefit gospel sing for Sherry Hanshaw Oldaker-Thaxton will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Jan. 11 in Sissonville High School Auditorium. All proceeds will go to Sherry and Clifton Thaxton to help with expenses of Sherry's treatment at Duke University Medical Center in her fight against pancreatic cancer. Singers will be Still Blessed, Jay Humphreys Trio, The Taylor Brothers, Cierra Parsons, Living for Him, Calvary's Why, Pam Israel and Hanna Newman. Concessions will be sold. To-go orders will be available.

Paul Bryant will sing at 7 p.m. Monday at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Wills Creek, Elkview.

The New Calvary Echoes will be ministering in song at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Pocatalico Community Church, 7138 Sissonville Drive, across from the Top Spot Restaurant. This is the family of the late Conrad Cook performing.

Living Word will be singing at the 6 p.m. Sunday service at Parsons Chapel Church, 1449 Sixth Ave., West Side. The morning service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Special services

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 442 McDonald St., South Charleston, will feature the Rev. Philemon Dillard as guest speaker at the 11 a.m. morning worship service on Sunday.

Good Shepherd Free will Baptist Church will have Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church. The 11 a.m. worship service will feature the Rev. Arthur Smith preaching. The Family Circle Quartet will sing at the 6 p.m. Sunday service and Pastor Jason C. Black will preach. A prayer meeting and youth group meeting will be held on Wednesday.
