Tracks reopen following McDowell County train wreck
VIVIAN, W.Va. -- Norfolk Southern has reopened a section of tracks in McDowell County that was damaged by a derailment.
Train traffic resumed through the Vivian area on Sunday.
Norfolk Southern spokesman Robin Chapman tells WOAY-TV that workers replaced the track and reconditioned the road bed.
Seventeen freight cars and a tanker derailed on Friday. The tanker ruptured and leaked asphalt into Elkhorn Creek. Chapman says workers have contained the leak.
