Panel reinstates fired Westover police officer
WESTOVER, W.Va. -- A former Westover police officer fired over misconduct allegations has been reinstated.
The Westover Civil Service Commission reinstated Matthew Starsick following a recent hearing, The Dominion Post reported.
Former Police Chief Rick Panico fired Starsick in October. Panico had said Starsick failed to respond to the allegations. Starsick then sued the city for wrongful termination.
The allegations included claims by former City Councilman William Wilson that Starsick had threatened him. Wilson resigned from the council on Oct. 21, citing health reasons.
Earlier this month, the council accepted Panico's resignation and appointed him to fill Wilson's seat.
