Survey finds strong support for Parkersburg ballpark
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- A new study shows strong support for a proposed multipurpose ballpark in Parkersburg.
Of about 1,000 residents surveyed by AECOM Technical Services Inc., 75 percent supported the ballpark. Twenty-five percent of 150 businesses surveyed indicated interest in becoming sponsors.
Half of the residents who responded to the survey live in West Virginia and half live in Ohio.
Parkersburg officials released the study's results on Monday. The study is the first phase of an effort to determine whether the Mid-Ohio Valley could support a ballpark.
The ballpark would be home to a Frontier League minor league baseball team.
