Fayette man arrested in Christmas kidnapping
FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- A Fayette County man wanted for domestic battery and kidnapping was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in to police.
Fayette County sheriff's deputies had been looking for Larry Junior Nelson, 36, of Springdale, since the evening of Christmas Day. Nelson, 36, allegedly assaulted and kidnapped his girlfriend during a domestic dispute earlier that day.
Nelson allegedly tied the woman's hands and legs and abandoned her at a remote strip mine near Springdale. The woman walked for more than an hour, eventually getting help at a residence, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.
Nelson was arraigned Tuesday in Fayette County Magistrate Court, but will remain in Southern Regional Jail until bond for kidnapping charges is set by a circuit court judge.
