WHEELING, W.Va. -- The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of West Virginia said it collected $3.2 million from criminal and civil actions in the 2013 fiscal year.
The office said the largest criminal collection was the payment of more than $963,000 in restitution from a former CEO of a Wheeling credit union. The government said Bernie Metz stills owes nearly $4 million in restitution.
Other large collections stem from a pollution violation in Wetzel County and fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid.
The U.S. attorney for the northern district is William J. Ihlenfeld II.
