'Mountain Stage' free on Sunday
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- On the heels of West Virginia's most-recent ecological disaster, "Mountain Stage" announced it would be kicking off its 31st season this Sunday with a free show at the Culture Center.
According to the announcement released on the web, the radio show's host, Larry Groce said, "Jan. 19 is the new Jan. 1! After the water disruption and the extreme weather, we all need a chance to reboot, and I think an evening of good music seems like a fine way to do it."
The 7 p.m. show features performances by Bettye LaVette, David Broza, Matrimony, Declan O'Rourke, and Noah Gundersen.
Groce invited residents to be a guest of "Mountain Stage" and encouraged them (if finances allowed) to use the money they might have spent on tickets to dine at local restaurants and give generously to their servers, who may have been unable to work during the crisis.
"Mountain Stage" added that anyone who had already purchased a ticket could exchange it at the box office for a gift certificate or a ticket for an upcoming show.
