Youths pitch in with water distribution

Rachel Molenda
Banyan Hardesty, 11, approaches a truck Sunday as he assists with water distribution at Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department. Banyan was one of many in the small community who assisted with relief efforts after a chemical spill in the Elk River tainted drinking water for 300,000 people.
Rachel Molenda Shiann Jones, of Charleston, and Tony Beurskens, of Asheville, N.C., carry cases of water to bring to two of Jones' elderly neighbors. Beurskins helped organize the donation and delivery of about 300 cases of water to the Kanawha Valley in light of the chemical spill. "We're just looking out for our neighbors," Beurskins said.
Despite all official "do-not-use" orders having been lifted, water distribution continued throughout the region on Sunday.
