West Liberty offers community education degree

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- West Liberty University is now offering an accelerated degree for students who want to work in community education.

Miriam Douglas is the new degree's program director. She says the bachelor of arts in community education degree is perfect for those who want to work in jobs like camp director, community outreach coordinator, parks and recreation leader and grant writer. Douglas says the 120-credit hour degree can be completed in as little as three years.

West Liberty sophomore Ramsay Core of Rayland, Ohio, says the degree fits his goal of becoming a 4-H extension agent.

Students in the program select from one of six majors: community arts, disabilities services, educational leadership in faith organizations, museum education, outdoor education and sports, recreation and wellness.
