Causeway opens near mudslide site in Logan County
LYBURN, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Department of Transportation has completed construction of a temporary causeway across the Guyandotte River where a mudslide occurred in Logan County.
The causeway connecting Madison Creek and Neibert Bottom was opened to traffic Tuesday.
Last month's mudslide cut off access to Madison Creek Road and forced dozens of residents from their homes. The road reopened a week later, and Department spokeswoman Carrie Bly says it will remain open as contractors continue to shore up the hillside.
