Back to Work 50+
Kanawha Valley residents who are 50 or older and unemployed are invited to attend a Back to Work 50+ information session hosted by the AARP Foundation from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Workforce West Virginia, 1321 Plaza East. Attendees will learn about effective job search strategies for people over 50, receive a listing of local job search resources, and meet with community organizations that provide job search help and training resources. Learn strategies for successfully completing a job interview, what resume most employers prefer, and many options for local job skills training. Attendees may sign up to receive one-on-one personal assistance from local organizations. Refreshments will be provided. The session is free, however, seating is limited and reservations are required. To sign up, call the AARP Foundation at 1-855-850-2525 and select Back to Work 50+.
Executive committee meeting

Healing the waters
The Heart of the Healer Alliance will present an evening of Peruvian ceremony, healing and visioning with Jeff Schmitt and Jen Worthen at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 520 Kanawha Blvd. W. The program will be "Healing the Waters: The Elk River." A $15 donation is suggested. Children are admitted free. Those attending the ceremonial practices are requested to bring sacred objects that represent water and/or the healing force of the divine feminine.
