A Clendenin volunteer firefighter died in a car accident on Saturday night.
Nathan Smith, of Clendenin, was driving a pickup truck on Elk River Road North, near Clendenin, when he struck a natural gas meter, a parked car and a house, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
Smith was trapped in the truck and pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Sheriff's Office.
There were no passengers in the truck and no one in the house was injured.
The crash happened just before 10 Saturday night. Part of Elk River Road North was closed for more than three hours following the crash.
Smith was a member of the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department.The Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash and an autopsy will likely be performed.
