CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- It's graduation day for the adult drug court in Kanawha County.
Five people are scheduled to graduate today in what will be the 11th graduation ceremony over the past five years for the court.
Participants in adult drug courts complete a treatment program of no less than 12 months. They are required to attend group and individual counseling, take drug tests regularly and perform community service, among other graduation requirements.
Proponents say drug courts are cheaper than incarceration and have a much lower recidivism rate.
