Water tanker rescue
Workers finish raising the front supports of a West Virginia American water tanker after it sank into the old Big Sandy parking lot in Cross Lanes on Thursday. Andrea Thomas, the water company's operational risk management specialist, said the tanker would be inspected for structural damage and, if none was found, moved to a more solid part of the lot. Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputy K.L. Washburn said there wasn't a sinkhole; instead, the ground underneath that portion of pavement was mostly fill, making it too soft to support the tanker.
