Coin club show
The Kanawha Valley Coin Club will hold its annual coin show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Charleston Civic Center. Admission is free. Dealers from Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia will buy, sell and trade coins, paper money, gold jewelry, coal mine scrip and West Virginia tokens. Putnam County Parks and Recreation is hosting fly-tying and fly-fishing classes from 6 to 9 p.m. May 5, 8, 12 and 15 at Valley Park in Hurricane. The class focuses on the basics of fly fishing, fly selection, stream entomology, fishing knots, hands-on casting, choosing a fly rod and the basic techniques in casting a fly rod for all pan fish. A ladies' tea will be held during the Civil War weekend at 3 p.m. March 29 in the Valley Park Community Center at Valley Park, Hurricane. All ladies 8 and older are welcome to attend. Bring your favorite tea cup if you wish. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the park office. Call 304-562-0518, ext. 10. Tickets are limited.
