NITRO, W.Va. -- A Nitro man was arrested Tuesday and charged with allegedly robbing a Cross Lanes restaurant earlier in the day.
State Police Lt. Michael Baylous said troopers arrested Sean J. Sampson-Audorff, 22, late Tuesday and charged him with first-degree robbery.
According to a criminal complaint on file in Kanawha County Magistrate Court, Sampson-Audorff got up from a meal at the Captain D's restaurant in Cross Lanes at about 3:10 p.m., walked up to the clerk behind the counter and handed her a note that said, "Give the money from the drawer, do not yell, do not scream, do not turn around, I have a gun."
Sampson-Audorff then allegedly put his hands in his sweatshirt pocket, leading the clerk to believe he had a gun. The clerk then emptied the cash drawer and Sampson-Audorrf fled on foot, according to the complaint.
The clerk was able to identify Sampson-Audorrf from a photograph shown to her by a co-worker who knew the suspect, according to the complaint.
Sampson-Audorrf was in the South Central Regional Jail this morning with bail set at $75,000.
