KCEAA meeting canceled
The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority Officers' meeting scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. The regular Board of Directors meeting will be at noon Thursday in the central office cafeteria, 601 Brooks St. For information, call 304-345-2312, ext. 130.
State of WV birds
Rich Bailey, state ornithologist for the state Department of Natural Resources, will discuss the "state of WV birds" and the ongoing 2nd Breeding Bird Atlas at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the WVU Extension Office, 4700 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., Kanawha City. Bailey will also discuss how volunteers can move beyond recreation and help conserve and protect the diverse birdlife. The presentation is hosted by the Master Naturalists in the Kanawha Valley and the Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club. It will count as elective educational hours for Master Naturalists. Hours volunteered on the project will count toward the annual volunteer requirement. All those interested in birds are welcome, whether or not you want to volunteer.
Inner Listening Class
Unity of Kanawha Valley will host an Inner Listening Class at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, located at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Myrtle and Bridge roads. The class, led by Marianne Gettman, is designed to help release stress and tension and offers breathing exercises, guided meditation, stretching and Qigong Flow. The Inner Listening class will be on the first Saturday of each month.
Al-Anon and Alateen offer meetings at various locations. Al-anon, for friends and family of alcoholics, meet at 8 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; and at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive. Alateen, for teens who deal with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend, meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive.
