State Police on lookout for abducted Maryland girl

DUNDALK, Md. -- West Virginia State Police are on the lookout for a Baltimore girl who was allegedly abducted by her father on Thursday.

Authorities in Maryland issued an Amber Alert for 11-year-old Caitlyn Marie Virts, of Dundalk, on Thursday morning.

She is believed to be with her father, Timothy Howard Virts, 38. He is wanted as a person of interest in connection to the slaying of 36-year-old Bobbie Jo Cortez, the Associated Press reported. Caitlyn is believed to be in extreme danger, according to the alert.

Police are looking for a black 1999 Dodge Durango with Maryland plate No. 5AJ4458. Caitlyn is described as 5-feet-tall, 80-pound girl who may wear glasses. Timothy Virts is described as 6-foot-3, 280 pounds. Both are white.

Timothy Virts may have relatives in Mineral and McDowell Counties.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.
