Anniversaries/homecomings
Fairview United Methodist Church: will have its 125th Homecoming celebration Sept. 8 and Sunday at the church. A pizza party and games for kids will be featured from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 8. A song and praise service with refreshments will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 8. The homecoming and morning worship will be observed at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 9. A covered-dish dinner and fellowship will be held at noon. The afternoon services with a special sing will begin at 1:30 p.m. The church is located in Cross Lanes. Turn left off Big Tyler Road to Rocky Fork and take the first right up the hill.
Homecoming services: will be held Sept. 9 at New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in Pinch. Afternoon activities include a covered-dish dinner and music by the Taylor Brothers and Good News Trio. There will be inflatables for children. The church is located across from Pinch Elementary School.

Ray Humphrey will preach and The Believers will sing during the morning service beginning at 10 a.m. The Harbor Masters Quartet will sing in the afternoon service beginning at approximately 1 p.m.
Red Oak Christian Community Church,: Red Oak Drive, Nitro, will have its homecoming beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 with Sundra Brown from Barberville, Ky., preaching. Singing will be provided by Gospel Tide and Old Cross Roads. Dinner will be served at noon. Victor Keathley and Roy Jarrell are pastors.

First Missionary Baptist Church: will celebrate its 106th Anniversary and Homecoming at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the morning service starts at 11 a.m. with its pastor, the Rev. Robert J. Frazier speaking. The afternoon service begins at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ronald Sherrod, pastor of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Lewisburg as guest speaker, along with his choir and congregation. Area churches are invited to participate.
Reamer Hill Community Church,: Leatherwood Road, Clendenin, will celebrate its 38th Anniversary Homecoming beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 9. Dinner will be on the grounds at noon. The afternoon service begins at 1:30 p.m. with The Hobbs Family as guest singers.
Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church: in Chesapeake,: will have its 92nd Church Anniversary at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the church, 11744 Maccorkle Ave., Chesapeake. The theme is "Now is the Time." Guest speaker will be Bishop Gordon Ford of Faith Cathedral of Praise in Rand, along with his choir and congregation. Dinner will be served immediately after the morning service.
Elkridge Community Church: will have its homecoming services on Sept. 23. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., a dinner at noon and the afternoon service will begin at 2 p.m. Directions to Elkridge: from Montgomery, take W.Va. 61 South and go approximately 3 miles. Christ Harvest: is hosting a "Family Fun Day" from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the church, located at 5315 Koontz Drive in Cross Lanes. Free Little Caesars pizza and Pepsi products will be provided, along with inflatables, live bands, fire department vehicles, games and prizes for all.
Applications are available for a booth space: at the annual fall arts and crafts sale, to take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave. in Hurricane. Spaces are $20 plus $3 for electrical outlet. Vendors must bring their own tables. Eleven community churches will be participating in this huge annual sale. There will also be hotdogs and a bake sale. Items for sale include furniture, exercise equipment, home décor, glassware, books, clothes, baby items, household items, books, toys, furniture, movies and more.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation: will present its Third Friday Film Series at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the church, 520 Kanawha Blvd. W. Admission is free. The film is "Hugo," a 2011 family drama that blends fictional story with historical fact. Set in a Paris train station in the early 20th Century, it tells the story of a young boy, Hugo, orphaned and being taken care of by his uncle, who works as the keeper of the station's clocks. Rated PG.
King Of Glory International Ministries: will present its Second Annual "I Lived To Tell It'' Conference Sept. 8 and Sept. 9. Revivals
Frazier's Bottom Church of God,: 2051 W.Va. 35, Frazier's Bottom will have revival services beginning at noon Sept. 9 with an all-church, friends and neighbors picnic in the large pavilion beside the church. Music will be provided, and the Rev. Roy Barber of White Sulphur Springs will preach following the picnic. Services continue at 7 p.m. nightly, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Monday evening preacher will be the Rev. Jake Eldridge, pastor of Buffalo. Pastor Lester Errett Jr., pastor of Fraziers Bottom Church of God, will deliver Tuesday evening's sermon. Dr. Bill Ellis will be preaching and his wife, Kitty, will be the guest soloist for the closing service Sept. 12 afternoon. Ellis has preached in more than 150 different churches in the state and in many countries. Many churches will be celebrating the "National Back to Church Sunday" on Sept. 16.
Revival service: will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 9 and at 7 p.m. nightly during the week at Rumble Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Roger Duncan from Tampa, Fla., will speak. The Rev. Duncan has made appearances on the Calvin Evans television programs.

Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church,: 5470 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, will have a special morning worship service at 10 a.m. Sept. 9. Family Circle and the Tignor Family will sing. The Rev. The schedule is: Sept. 28, 7 p.m., official church dedication service, dedicatory speaker will be Dr. Sherman Watkins of Columbus, Ohio; Sept. 29, 6 p.m., Praise and Worship Extravaganza with area choirs participating; Sept. 30, 11 a.m., Ribbon cutting ceremony and church service. Keith Johnson, former chaplain to the Minnesota Vikings and Jerusalem-based Jewish scholar and author Nehemia Gordon: will explain the "Hebrew Secret of God's Blessing" at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Sar Shalom Bible Center in Hurricane. Johnson has ministered to some of the top names in the NFL and NBA. He is author of "His Hallowed Name Revealed Again," a study of the Hebrew name of God. Gordon has spent his career deciphering Hebrew manuscripts and studying the deep mysteries of the Jewish faith.
Bible Center Church: will speak on "Courage After Fire," written by Keith Armstrong, LCSW; Suzanne Best, Ph.D.; and Paula Domenici, Ph.D., from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bible Center Church Southridge Campus, 100 Bible Center Drive. The book is about combat veterans and spouses who share their reintegration journey to life's new normal. Speakers include Master Sgt. Ruben Gonzales, 21 years of service, 20 in Special Forces and currently serving in the WVARNG; CW4 Mark Prosser, 26 years of service and currently serving in the WVARNG; Sgt. Matthew Pennington, six years of service with honorable retirement from the Army. Music will be provided by Major John C. Wilkinson, 26 years of service and currently serving in the WVARNG; and SFC Timothy R. Kyer II, 14 years of service, currently serving in the WVARNG. Master of Ceremonies is retired Army LTC Carl Kinder.
