Anniversaries/homecomings:

Bowles Ridge Community Church: in Liberty will have its annual homecoming celebration on Sunday. There will be special preaching and singing, and dinner will be served on the grounds.  Services will begin with Sunday school at 10 a.m.

Pastor Wayne and Renea Crozier and Abundant Life Ministries: will have its 14th Church/Pastoral Anniversary at 7 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Charleston Civic Center with guests Paula White and Byron Cage. On Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. the service will be at Abundant Life Ministries with guest speaker Hernando Munoz of Miami, Fla.  On Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. the guest speaker will be Elder Roger Haley of Dallas, Texas. Metropolitan Baptist Church,: 205 Donnally St., will celebrate Pastor Darin Freeman's Sixth Anniversary at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. Special guest preacher is Pastor Sedrick Hamner of Atlanta, Ga.

The Rev. Sharletta M. Green: and members of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church, 607 Shrewsbury St., will celebrate its 146th Anniversary beginning Oct. 7 and continuing through Oct. 28. Activities include: Oct. 6, 6 p.m., the Martin Luther King Male Chorus will be in concert followed by a reception in the John H. Woods Social Hall; Oct. 14, 10:45 a.m., worship service by the Rev. Green, with a slide show followed by a musical tribute by the Simpson Choir; Oct. 21, 10:45 a.m. worship service with Edna Green as speaker for Youth Sunday. A reception will follow the service. The 146th anniversary celebration will conclude with West Virginia Del. Meshea L. Poor speaking at the 10:45 am. Oct. 28 worship service. The 20th Anniversary services: for Pastor Michael Austin of Church of God MPG of Truth will be held Oct. 10-14 at the church, 1001 Hendrix Ave. Services will be held 7 p.m. nightly Oct. 10-12 and at noon on Oct. 13 and 14.

Miscellaneous:

Winfield Community Church: will have its fall kick-off from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at 144 Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot. There will be bingo for adults, pudding pie eating contest, free prize drawings, free face painting, free inflatables, cakewalk, and free food, including hot dogs, ice cream popcorn and cotton candy.

Fresh Fire Ministries: will present the Second Annual Fresh Fire Crusade: A Prophetic Explosion, Oct. 25-28, at Living Water Worship Centre, 513 Patrick St. The theme is "The Last Outpour." Humphreys United Methodist Church in Sissonville: will sponsor a two-day rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and on Oct. 6. Rummage sale items only will be available on Friday. The Oct. 6 sale will include rummage sale items and food. Food includes hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans and desserts. Food orders can be eaten in or carried out.

Institute Church of the Nazarene Pastor's Anniversary Committee: will have a baked steak and gravy dinner for sale from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the church activity building, 208 Washington Ave., Institute. The cost is $8 and includes baked steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, roll, dessert and drink.

Bishop Michael D. Austin and first lady Mattie Austin's: Formal Banquet Dinner will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Charleston Women's Club located at 1600 Virginia Street East. Tickets are $25 per person for the formal banquet dinner that s catered by Little Creek Park Catering. For ticket information, contact Church of God MPG&T at 304-346-2902.

Rock Branch Independent Church: will have a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in the church activity building, 417 Woodland Drive, Nitro. Breakfast and lunch menus will be available as well as baked goods.

King Of Glory International Ministries,: 302 Delaware Ave., will sponsor a Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 13 at the church. Rite Aid Pharmacy will offer flu, shingles, whooping cough, Hepatitis and pneumonia shots. All major insurance cards are accepted. Without insurance, the cost per shot is $27.99 cash. Bureau for Public Health will offer private HIV testing. Other participants will be Anytime Fitness; WV Breast and Cervical Screening Program/Wisewoman; fire department, American Heart Association, domestic violence representatives, Alzheimer's Association and there will be a Kidney and Diabetes lecture. St. Michael Independent Catholic Church: we will host an in-depth study of the Mass as a form of worship from the Old Testament to the New Testament during the month of October. Class is 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Week One will focus on the Eucharist in the Old Testament. St. Michael Independent Catholic Church is housed in Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1698 Quarrier St., one block off of the Greenbrier Street Exit of Interstate 77. King of Glory International Ministries,: will sponsor a "Crown Of Glory" Brunch at 10 a.m. today at the church, 302 Delaware Ave. Women are asked to wear a hat. Speaker will be Pastor Autumn Truman of Mount View Church of God, Oak Hill. King of Glory International Ministries senior pastor is Tina M. Beatty. 

Fairlawn Baptist Church,: 20th Street and Fletcher Ave., Dunbar, will have an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Family Life Center, former Mound School. There will be a variety of vendors and merchandise, including baby clothes. Sausage biscuits, hot dogs and homemade desserts will be available. Call 304-768-5858 for information.

Music:

 The Charleston Community Choir: will be opening for gospel recording artist Byron Cage at the Charleston Civic Center on October 26.  If you would like to be a part of the Charleston Community Choir, come to rehearsal at noon each Saturday at Abundant Life Ministries, 1534 Washington St. E.
