CROSS LANES, W.Va. -- Goff Mountain Road in Cross Lanes, which was closed about 12 hours on Monday, reopened after 9 p.m., according to Kanawha County Metro 911's Twitter account.
Some Kanawha County school buses experienced major delays caused by downed power lines in the Cross Lanes area, according to an automated message from Kanawha County Schools.
The schools affected were Cross Lanes Elementary, Andrew Jackson Middle School and Nitro High School, according to the message.
Kanawha County officials said the road would be closed for about 12 hours while work crews repair downed power lines.
A truck carrying an excavator got caught in power lines near City National Bank just before 9:30 a.m., bringing the lines down and breaking a utility pole, according to Metro 911 dispatchers.
