For, how can I alone withstand

Life's fierce storms and howling winds

Or find an anchor for my grief

Without God's sheltering relief?

I can only say "Amen."

Here is a poem that is familiar to most students, who were compelled to memorize it in class. However, like most familiar things, it is soothing and has added meaning as one grows older. It is a favorite of mine.

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening

            By Robert Frost

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake,

The only other sound's the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flakes.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep

But I have promises to keep

And miles to go before I sleep

And miles to go before I sleep.
