JULIAN, W.Va. -- An elderly woman from Bluefield was found in Boone County on Saturday night after she had been reported missing.
Ruth W. Harvey, 82, was found near a creek, about 150 yards away from her vehicle on a rural road in Julian, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Police were told shortly before 7 p.m. about an abandoned vehicle on a rural side road in Julian. After learning the vehicle was registered to Harvey, police searched the area for the missing woman.
Officers found a shoe that Harvey had apparently lost on a path in the woods while she had been wandering around. Officers followed the path until they found Harvey by the creek around 9:50 p.m., said State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous.
Harvey was not injured, but was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital for an evaluation.
State Police were unclear when Harvey was reported missing.
