Camp fund off to a good start
Advertiser

The Gazette Charities Send-A-Child-To-Camp fund is off to a good start this year, thanks to a generous group of readers who gave more than $3,700 to the campaign in its first week.

But we still have a long way to go to make sure that every kid in our area gets a chance at camp this summer.

Each day this week, the Gazette featured stories about some of the camps supported by the fund -- camps like Fayette County's Camp Kismet or the Buckskin Council's Boy Scout camp. Each story tells tales of happy young campers -- including those who would never have been able to afford camp if not for caring Gazette readers.

Please see the donation coupon with this story if you would like to give to the fund. Every penny donated goes to help kids attend camp. The Gazette covers all administrative costs of the fund.

Here's a list of this week's donors:

  • Phillip W. Lawson, $44.80
  • Stephanie Blake, $50
  • Leslie N. Johnson, $100
