CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The dedications that come along with some of the donations to the Gazette Charities Send-A-Child-To-Camp Fund are wonderfully telling.
Many honor the memory of a relative or friend, others call attention to the living and the work they do, and still others look back on the past with fondness, such as those givers who list the name of the camp they attended many years before.
This week's donations give love to the names on the stones of an entire cemetery. They call attention to the emergency room staff at a local hospital -- a lifesaving procedure perhaps? And they make simple yet eloquent statements, such as: "In honor of friends old and new."
Donations are still being accepted to send kids to summer camp this year -- kids that might not otherwise be able to afford to go.
So far, the fund has raised more than $27,000, but we still have work to do to meet our goal. Remember, the Gazette covers all administrative costs of the fund. Every penny of every donation goes to help children.
Please help us send every deserving child to camp this year (see donation form included with this article). And feel free to dedicate that donation to friends, be they old or new.
