Single mother of four needs help caring for newborn, buying Christmas gifts

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Pam met the father of her three children when she was very young.

She thought he loved her and that he would take care of her. But, he left her to raise the children on her own.

Being on her own was nothing new for Pam -- she practically raised herself.

With no close family to lean on and no education, Pam tried to raise the three children the best that she could. She turned toward friends and agencies like the Heart and Hand Community Service Center for help during the years.

She has two sons, 11 and 5, and a daughter, 8. Pam found out she was pregnant with a fourth child. When she told her boyfriend, he left too.

Pam gave birth to a baby boy Dec. 19, but has nothing to give him or his siblings for Christmas.

They are in need of winter coats, clothing and shoes. The baby has no crib, highchair or playpen. Other necessities for the newborn, such as diapers, wipes and baby powder are also needed. (Clothing sizes: 34, XL, 8 slim, 5T and newborn. Shoe sizes: 12, 3, 13 and newborn.)
