HUNTINGTON -- Incumbent Huntington Mayor David Felinton has won the Democratic nomination in his bid for a third term.
The Herald-Dispatch newspaper reported that with 100 percent of the precincts counted, Felinton received 3,562 votes to defeat three challengers in Tuesday's primary. Cabell County Commissioner Bob Bailey received 3,383 votes, Shawn Bresnahan finished with 1,215 votes and Lucille Wight received 591 votes.
Felinton will face Republican Cabell County Sheriff Kim Wolfe in the Nov. 4 general election. He also could face two independents.
Former Councilman Tom McCallister and Robin Howell have submitted petitions to get on the general election ballot as independents. Assistant City Clerk Kathy Torlone says the petitions will be reviewed to determine their validity.
