CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two people were killed early this morning when their sport utility vehicle ran off the road near Cross Lanes.
James Scott Legg, 20, and Robert Paul Cottrell, 25, both of Charleston, were heading south on West Washington Street about 12:45 a.m. when the Chevy Tahoe that Legg was driving ran off the road between Cross Lanes and Charleston, said Lt. Bryan Stover of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
The vehicle smashed into a large tree, killing both men.
Stover said Legg was speeding at the time of the wreck. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
