Man allegedly stabs self after fight with girlfriend, police say

HERNSHAW, W.Va. -- Police found a man with a knife sticking out of his stomach in Hernshaw Monday evening after he allegedly stabbed himself.

A local resident called 911 after they found the man lying on the side of Left Fork Road, surrounded by blood and with a knife sticking out of his stomach, according to a Metro 911 dispatcher.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, the man apparently stabbed himself after an alleged fight with his girlfriend.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.
