ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- No charges are expected to be filed in a Friday car-pedestrian collision in Jefferson that claimed the life of a 53-year-old Jackson County man, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies said it has not yet been determined whether Tony R. Skeens of Kenna had been attempting to cross or was walking along MacCorkle Avenue when he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle driven by Randall Patrick of St. Albans.
Patrick stopped his vehicle immediately after hearing a noise and saw a pedestrian on the ground, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. Sean Crosier. Skeens was pronounced dead shortly after the 5:30 p.m. incident, which occurred in front of Tomahawk's Club.
Skeens' death remains under investigation by the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department's Accident Reconstruction Unit.
