CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man who police say stabbed his wife numerous times in front of her 7-year-old daughter is still on the loose and police are asking for the public's help.

On July 27, John Reed II, 29, met his ex-wife, Melissa Taylor, on Maywood Avenue in Clendenin and allegedly stabbed her numerous times in front of Taylor's daughter, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Reed allegedly stole Taylor's vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier with "Melissa" in yellow letters across the front windshield and a Chevrolet emblem on the back window, according to the sheriff's department.

Taylor's vehicle was found in Ona, Cabell County, but Reed has still not been located.

Tips have led the sheriff's department to Dutch Ridge Road in Clendenin and to Clarksburg, after he allegedly used his ex-wife's credit card at a gas station there, according to the sheriff's department.

Reed is a white male, last seen wearing a cowboy hat and has a teardrop tattoo under his left eye, according to the sheriff's department.

Taylor survived the ordeal and has since been released from the hospital.

In anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Reed, contact the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department at 304-357-1069.
