Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are investigating two home invasions in the eastern end of the county.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are investigating two home invasions in the eastern end of the county.
Lt. Sean Crosier said two men burst through the door of a house in Dupont City at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday as the homeowner and a friend were watching television.
Crosier said the men waved guns at the two men in the house and demanded drugs. They then pistol-whipped both men before stealing prescription drugs. Crosier said the homeowner is physically handicapped and unable to defend himself.
The other man in the house chased the two assailants and an accomplice to Rand before losing them, Crosier said. The suspects were wearing dark clothing and masks, but were described as two white men in their 20s. One man was about 5 feet 3 inches tall and another about 5 feet 10 inches tall, Crosier said. There was no description of the third man.
Another home invasion happened at about 6 a.m. Thursday when a man broke into a Lens Creek Home in Hernshaw. Crosier said the 62-year-old victim was watching television when a white heavy-set male wearing black clothing and a black baseball cap burst through the front door, waved a pistol and said he'd kill the victim if he refused to hand over his pain medication. A 9-year-old boy was in the room at the time.
Crosier said the suspect took the drugs and fled in a vehicle south toward Boone County.
Deputies do not know if the crimes are related. Anyone with information is asked to call 304-357-0169.
