CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A South Charleston man was in jail Monday after passing out in a store parking lot.

Nitro police responded to the Nitro Walmart at about 8:35 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of an unresponsive person, according to Patrolman H.R. Blake II.

Upon arriving, officers allegedly found Joshua Michael Elswick, 20, slumped over in the front seat of the car. Elswick was eventually awakened by officers, Blake said.

Blake said a pat down search turned up a loaded .22 caliber pistol in Elswick's pants, six Oxycodone and 17 generic Xanax pills.

Police also found a Christmas box with Elswick's name on it, Blake said. The box allegedly contained seven grams of marijuana, a small bag of cocaine and digital scales.

Elswick was arrested and charged with possession of drugs with intent to deliver. He was in the South Central Regional Jail Monday in lieu of $50,000 bond.
