This farce appears to be nothing but a political witchhunt orchestrated by persons unknown and targeting persons unknown. I would love to know the total costs of the expenditures of public employees time that has been spent dealing with this burning issue across all the departments of the State government. This is a prime example of why I left the government and went to private industry, there is no display of common sense. All of this could and should have been handled in a professional manner. Instead, I have came to the conclusion that this process was tainted from the start. In the first press reports, the legislature's auditor specifically named the State Treasurer and Agriculture Commissioner. Was that purposeful or an erro So, were they the apparent targets of this ill-conceived venture or was someone else the real target? Could it really be someone not even evident yet? Whatever the case, the Gazette has been dutifully followed the story and acted as an enabler here.

So this is the list of honest folks who took the deduction. It still doesn't tell us what their jobs were, why they might have needed a car, and maybe most importantly, if they only had a car for a short period of time. One of the big assumptions in this fracas is that all these employees had cars for a whole year as part of their jobs. Some of them might have been assigned a car for a few weeks or months as part of a specific assignment.

But that would make this all a lot less interesting, wouldn't it?
