Advertiser

WINFIELD, W.Va. -- Putnam County commissioners approved a contract with Terradon Corp. Tuesday to plan and zone a waterline extension project in Manila Ridge.

The $194,000 contract with the Nitro firm is for all engineering, planning and zoning surveys in the area. Total cost for the Manila Ridge project is estimated at $1.8 million.

Commissioners hope to receive a grant from the state's Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council to pay for a portion of the project.

Terradon is projected to complete its survey in 60 days.

Commissioners have contracted with Terradon for the majority of extension projects in the county. The Manila Ridge project is part of a larger construction project to extend water service to outlying county residents. Construction has already begun in the Jim/Bee Ridge areas.

In other business Tuesday, commissioners:

| Set Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. as the county's trick-or-treat time.

| Set Oct 6 as Putnam County Breast Cancer Awareness Day. October is the national Breast Cancer Awareness month.

What the. . . ?! $194,000 for planning before a single square foot of soil is broken or a single piece of pipe is laid?! For 60 days work by surveyors. "engineers" and technicians?!
This is the kind of ridiculous BS that has our gov't in debt so far that our g'grandchildren will be paying for our folly.
