WINFIELD, W.Va. -- Police arrested a Hurricane man Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing a young family member.

Robert Gene Kidd, 42, of the Right Fork of Cow Creek, touched the girl's genital area and had oral sex with her since 2004, when she would have been 11 years old, according to a criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court.

The girl gave Putnam sheriff's deputies an exact description of Kidd's genital region, including his grooming habits and a mole on his skin. Sgt. Ryan E. Lockhart then confirmed the description with the girl's mother.

Kidd was charged with sexual abuse of a child by a parent or guardian from 2004 through June 2010 by Putnam County Magistrate Kim Blair.
