TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. -- The Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a Federal Emergency Management Assistance grant meant to help with staffing problems at the department Thursday.
The $459,906 grant through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant will allow the department to hire four firefighters, according to a news release from Rep. Shelley Moore Capito's office Thursday.
The grant was established to enhance local fire departments' abilities to comply with staffing, response, and operational standards, according to FEMA's website.
