HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- State Police in Huntington are on the trail of a man who robbed a convenience store on U.S. 60 early this morning.

Trooper R.S. Charlton of the Huntington State Police Detachment went to the Speedway store at 4359 U.S. 60 just past midnight to respond to a report of an armed robbery, according to First Sgt. A.L. Cummings of the Huntington detachment.

The night clerk at the store told Charlton he had been robbed at gunpoint by a black man about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. The man had a thin moustache and a tattoo on his neck behind his right ear. He was holding a silver-colored semiautomatic handgun with black grips.

The man made off with $631 in cash. Witnesses believe he may have fled in a white four-door Buick with Kentucky license plates.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Huntington State Police detachment at 528-5555.
