MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Two men were in jail on Wednesday following a string of Berkeley County robberies.
Sgt. Eric Burnett of the Martinsburg State Police detachment said armed robbers hit three stores in Falling Waters and Martinsburg on Tuesday, making off with an unknown amount of money. In the last robbery, at the Natural Food Store in Martinsburg, one of the suspects was seen speeding away in a green Jeep Wrangler with Pennsylvania license plates.
Burnett said troopers found the vehicle a short distance away at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, but the vehicle's owner was not to be found. The owner, Troy Vosburg, 36, was spotted a little after midnight near the Berkeley-Jefferson county line.
Burnett said troopers pulled over a car seen leaving the area and found Vosburg in the back seat. They discovered the driver, Steven Collier, 42, was wanted by federal authorities for a probation violation.
Vosburg was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, one county of attempted first-degree robbery and providing false information to State Police. Vosburg and Collier were both in the Eastern Regional Jail on Wednesday.
