MONTCOAL, W.Va. -- West Virginia University head basketball coach Bob Huggins visited with the families of miners involved in the Upper Big Branch mine disaster Wednesday afternoon. He brought them homemade pasta and Mountaineer T-shirts.
Huggins arrived by helicopter, which landed in a field beside Marsh Fork Elementary School.
Reporters were held back by State Police and did not get a chance to interview Huggins.
Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D-W.Va., greeted Huggins and talked with reporters afterward.
"I'm sure coach Huggins, being the West Virginian that he is, and knowing his love for this state and its people, wanted to come down to show his support," Rahall said.
