ELKINS, W.Va. -- A Randolph County seventh-grade teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old former student is behind bars on $50,000 bond.
Autumn Faulkner, 26, was arraigned on a sexual assault charge Thursday and was being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
State Police Sgt. G.L. Stalnaker said the boy's parents apparently did not know about the relationship, which had been going on since at least last year.
Faulkner teaches at Elkins Middle School. Randolph County Schools Interim Superintendent Terry George told The Inter-Mountain that he's taken steps to keep Faulkner from working in the school system. George declined to provide specifics Thursday.
Faulkner was arrested Wednesday after an anonymous tip to the state Department of Health and Human Resources.
