NITRO, W.Va. -- The former volleyball coach at Poca High School has been summoned to appear in Nitro Municipal Court for allegedly contributing to the delinquency of a minor, after he was discovered in a motel room with a female student.

Christopher Miller, 27, was discovered by his wife around 5 a.m. June 30, in a room at the Econo Lodge in Nitro with the juvenile, according to the criminal complaint filed in the Nitro Municipal Court.

The girl is a 16-year-old student at Poca High School, a member of the Miller family said.

Miller resigned from his position at the high school in early July. He had worked as the volleyball and track coach at the high school for about a year.

Superintendent Chuck Hatfield said earlier this month that Miller is allowed on school property until criminal charges are filed.

Miller's wife of five years, Elizabeth Miller, found him at the motel after he left their home following an argument.

"He just disappeared and was gone for four hours," a member of the family said. "He wouldn't answer text messages or phone calls."

Elizabeth Miller checked her online banking account and saw her husband had gotten a room at the Econo Lodge.

She went to the motel, and was able to get his room number from the desk clerk, a member of the family said.

When Miller opened the door, his wife saw the girl in the room and called the police, according to the complaint.

When police arrived, the girl was sitting in Miller's black Chevy Camaro. She originally told officers she was 22 years old and denied having an ID with her, the complaint states.

The girl's cousin arrived soon after to give her a ride home, and gave police the girl's real age. They then contacted her mother.

During this time, Miller repeatedly told police, "This isn't what it looks like," and "It wasn't like we were having sex," according to the complaint.

Miller and the girl denied having sex, according to the criminal complaint. Miller told police he had gotten the motel room, but not with the student.
