ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Police are investigating a woman found dead Monday in St. Albans.
Emergency workers first learned about the death at 12:39 p.m., when the victims father called 911 and reported he had found Stacie Smith, 32, dead in a home on Carson Street, a dispatcher with Metro 911 said.
Smith's 3-year-old son was apparently found with her body, but he was not harmed, said Lt. James Agee with the St. Albans police department.
Police were questioning a possible suspect on Winfield Road Monday afternoon, the dispatcher said. They had also stopped a car on the west side of St. Albans for questioning, Agee said.
Crime scene technicians from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department are helping the investigation, said Lt. Sean Crosier with the Sheriff's Department.
Police followed leads on the case all evening and were hopeful it would be closing soon, Agee said.
"We're always hopeful of that," he said.
Agee said Smith had been living in St. Albans for a while, but was a new resident to the home on Carson Street.
