CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him growing marijuana in his home, police said.

Jay A. Rexroad, 41, of Elkview, was charged with felony counts of cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, according to Lt. Bryan Stover of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Stover said deputies went to Rexroad's home on Tyree Circle on Tuesday after getting a tip that Rexroad was growing and selling marijuana. He said deputies could smell marijuana as they approached Rexroad's house.

Inside, Stover said, deputies found grow rooms set up in two closets. He said deputies found grow lamps, aerators, chemicals, fertilizer, growing manuals and pH meters. Deputies also discovered 14 marijuana plants, Stover said.

Rexroad was free Wednesday on $100,000 bail.
