CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- State Police arrested four men on Tuesday for failing to comply with the state Sex Offender Registry Act.

The State Police, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, have been going door-to-door since April to see if information reported to the registry is up-to-date and that all offenders are following the conditions of the act.

Tuesday's sweep was conducted in Wyoming County and yielded four arrests:

  • Joseph Devon Daugherty, 45 of Simon, was charged for a discrepancy with a telephone number.
  • James Robert Lewis, 40 of Oceana, was charged for failure to comply with the act relating to a discrepancy with a change of address.
  • James David Trent, 75 of Pineville, was charged for being a felon in possession of a firearm and being in violation of a protection order.
  • Christopher Lee York, 21 of Clear Fork, was charged with three misdemeanor counts of having discrepancies with two telephone numbers and an Internet service provider.
